WELCOME!

This course focuses on guidelines for making nutritious food choices. Students will investigate factors that influence food choices, including beliefs, attitudes, current trends, traditional eating patterns, food-marketing strategies, and individual needs. Students will also explore the environmental impact of a variety of food choices at the local and global level. The course provides students with opportunities to develop food-preparation skills and introduces them to the use of social science research methods in the area of food and nutrition.

1. If you have several outstanding major assignments, you will not be completing Labs.

2. This is a SOCIAL science, meaning that a lot of work is brainstormed as a group. But remember: Group work is not assessed, make sure that if you are in a group your individual work is done and submitted to avoid late marks.

3. Horseplay is NOT tolerated! Cooking privileges can be revoked!

4. I am available at lunch (some days I may have a coverage in another classroom or in the cafeteria, but I will help you as soon as possible), first thing in the morning or directly after school, come see me if you need help/clarification or if there is an issue.

5. Cell phones are NOT allowed to be on for class. You will be asked to use your phone as an educational device during group work, but if that privilege is abused you may have your phone taken away for the day.
